What is a Headshot?

A headshot is a type of portrait that focuses on the face. They are used by professionals in websites, social profiles, and anywhere they want to make a connection and put a face with a name. Headshots are also used by models and actors to show their look to hiring agencies and productions.

Why do I need a professional headshot?

Headshots are not passport photos or just snapshots that your spouse or neighbor can take for you. Coaching and direction provided by a professional headshot photographer helps to best capture the expression which meets your desired purpose. My goal is to capture your authentic look which is both confident and approachable.

How often should I get a new headshot?

Every 2 years to keep their profiles fresh. Actors and Models may need a new headshot more often if there are auditioning for a particular job or have a change in look. And children need headshots more often than adults at least annually.

How many different images do I need?

Headshots are used in many places with our online presence. You need a variety of shots for different purposes so you are not always using the same shot everywhere. Different uses include website profiles, professional listings for doctors, dentists, or lawyers, LinkedIn profiles, Facebook, Instagram branding, press releases, book covers, and Zoom profiles. Think about your audience and what you want to project for each different use so we can be sure to capture the desired expression during our appointment.

Is an appointment really unlimited?

Yes, we take as much time or as little as you would like for your appointment with as many outfits or looks as you want. Most appointments last about 2 hours, and so that is how the scheduler is set up. I do have buffer time to accommodate as long an appointment as you would like.

Do you offer model and actor headshots?

Yes, I do offer model and actor headshots. Please provide your agency’s requirements before the appointment, so we can include it in the planning.

Do you offer branding photography?

Yes, I do offer provide branding appointments. These include more than just your unique face, and may be half, three quarter or full body shots. You may also want to bring some props to finish off the look or theme.

Do you offer Corporate Headshots?

Yes, I do. You have 2 options for corporate headshots. You can schedule me for a day to capture all of your teams photos, or you can have each team member schedule a time at my studio. Onsite and Studio corporate pricing is available. Please fill out the contact form to request a quote.

Can you match headshots for our company at different locations or times?

Yes, I can. That is the beauty of how I shoot. You can pick the background and clothing guidelines for your staff, so you will have a consistent look from picture day, as well as when you add staff in the future.

Do you offer group staff shots?

Yes, I do. Often staff group photos are best captured on site. We can schedule a headshot day to photograph your staff individually as well as in a group. My studio is large enough to capture a group photo of 10-20 people as well.

What is a composite staff photo?

Composite staff photos are group photos where individual photos are combined to make the overall staff photo. Composite staff photos provide flexibility in scheduling and updating your staff photos.

What can I expect in my appointment?


Intro Call>
 After you schedule your appointment, I will call you to discuss your goals and go over the Getting Ready Guide.
Shoot Day> We start with looking at your outfits and deciding the order for the appointment . We will go over your goals one more time to make sure we accomplish them during the appointment.
Have Fun> We then have fun creating your images. Believe it or not laughing helps to create the best most genuine images of you.
Select your Favorites> At the end of the appointment we will select your favorites for retouching and licensing. Payment for the images is due.

Is an appointment really unlimited?

Yes, we take as little or as much time as you would like for your appointment. You may bring as many outfits and photograph as many looks as you want. Plan on a minimum of 45 minutes, and most appointments last about 2 hours. The scheduler is set up for 2 hours time slots, but I do have buffer time to accommodate as long an appointment as you would like.

What types of backgrounds do you provide?

Typical backgrounds are white and gray. Black and other colors are also available. Please let me know if you have any preferences.

What is a composite staff photo?

Composite staff photos are group photos where individual photos are combined to make the overall staff photo. Composite staff photos provide flexibility in scheduling and updating your staff photos.

When are you available?

Take a look at the schedule to pick a time. I do quite a bit of on location work, and have reserved Tuesdays and Wednesdays for studio work; however, if you would like to schedule a different time, please call me, and we can get you on my schedule at a different time.

Is Retouching Included for the Images?

Yes, basic retouching is included in each image you select. This includes hair fly-aways, teeth whitening, blemishes, lint, lessening wrinkles, and overall color correction. However, I am not a plastic surgeon, nor do I play one on TV. The objective is to create an authentic image of you looking your best.

What is your turnaround time for images?

We will select your images at the end of your appointment and you will have your images ready for download 3 days following your appointment.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

You will receive a “Getting Ready Guide” once you book your appointment. I will call you to discuss the appointment , your goals, and go over the guide with you.

Is professional hair and makeup available?

Yes, if you would like to include hair and makeup, let me know and we will include it in your appointment fee, and add the time to your appointment.

What should I wear to my headshot appointment?

Keep It Simple Sweetheart! Your professional headshot is about your face and creating a connection between you and the person looking at your headshot. Clothing with a lot of ruffles or patterns is distracting. Hats or large jewelry also grab attention away from your eyes and expression. Simple is always better.
You are welcome to bring a favorite hat or jewelry for another look, but the first look should be simple to maximize the focus on your face. There are a few more tips included in the Getting Ready guide that you will receive when you schedule your appointment.

What do I bring to my appointment?

Bring a number of outfits so we have options for your appointment. Bring your favorite outfits even if it does not strictly meet the KISS principal.

Oh No! I have a pimple, what do I do?

I can handle blemishes in retouching. Please do not try to use concealer on your blemishes as that can create a larger issue in retouching.
