Shell One, Wells Fargo Plaza, Enterprise Plaza, Total Plaza, and Centerpoint Energy Plaza surround a metal and glass clad marker. When looking from this angle, all the buildings look the same size, along with the marker which I am leaning on to make this image. It reminds us, just as it is in life, we are all equal. Looking up at the black glass trapezoids of Pennzoil Place, and the ever present tallest building in Texas, the Chase Tower. Two Houston Center’s (circa 1974) dark metal and glass sits across the street in contrast to One Houston Centre’s (circa 1961) light stone. Two Houston Center predates the first Star Wars movie by 3 years, but the original grand scheme for Houston Center and the look of the building gives me that “Empire” feel. The BG Group Place also known as MainPlace (circa 2011) is an awesome sight and a sign of renewal in downtown Houston, but it resulted in the demo of the Montagu Hotel (circa1913) and the New West Building (circa. 1912). In contrast, the Carter Building (circa 1910) is being renovated across the Main Street. The Houston Bar Center (1917), and the Gulf Building (1929) are also in the scene.
